Ashcombe Summer Junior Tournament - Saturday 27th June 2009

The Ashcombe junior Tournament which will take place at the grounds of Dorking RFC - The Big Field, Brockham, Betchworth, Surrey RH3 7LZ on Saturday 27th June and offers junior competitions from Under 11's up to Under 18's and is part of Volleyball England's "Lets Play Volleyball" programme. The Tournament begins at 12.00 noon.

Saturday Ashcombe Tournament has record entries and glorious weather - 27th June 2009

The weather was a real bonus for all the players and supporters who came to the Ashcombe Volleyball Tournament on 27th and 28th June 2009. The tournament is run by the Ashcombe Volleyball Club at Dorking RFC in the picuresque village of Brockam, near Dorking, Surrey. Nestling under Box Hill, the setting is stunning and all we needed was good weather. Two years ago the tournament was played despite constant driving rain and showed the true British spirit of carrying on through all weather and adversity, but this year blue skies meant that sun tan lotion, hats and cold drinks were needed to keep the players going.

After a late night party, dinner and music, with over 150 camping overnight on site, the tournament resumed with a 6-a-side competition for men, women and mixed teams catering for players from National League to novice standard in 12 divisions. 20 courts were needed for the 70 teams in the various competitions. The lovely weather continued and a good time was had by all. The catering, Bar-B-Q, raffle, t-shirt sales were all supplied by Ashcombe Volleyball Club and the club players worked all week end as part of their fund raising efforts to support the players for next season's NVL and National junior competitions.

Saturday 21st June 4-aside adult tournament for men, women and mixed teams in 2 levels of comeptition. Also Under 11 to Under 18 Age group Tournament for boys and girls teams on grass courts at The Big Field, Brockham, Dorking, Surrey.

Camping overnight at Dorking RFC and Disco and Ashcombe Volleyball Club's Awards Celebration Dinner.

Sunday 22nd June adult 6-aside Men, Women, and Mixed competitions in 4 divisions for all abilities.

The Junior tournament on Saturday 23rd June 2007 attracted 54 teams with players aged from 11-18 .

On the same day the 4's Tournament also attracted over 50 teams and the results of all competitions are published here.
