Information for the South East Junior Squads
South East regional coaches are working with the South East Volleyball junior squads by training on a monthly basis at The Ashcombe Volleyball Centre.
The Inter Regional Championships in 2009 were held on 2nd, 3rd and 4th May in Loughborough with the finals and many of the matches at Loughborough University.
TRAINING TIMES
10.a.m. - 1.30.p.m. Under 14 and Under 16 Girls, Under 15 and Under 17 Boys. £2.50 per session.
Junior Inter Regional Beach Volleyball Championships
On Friday 31st August 2007 the first Inter Regional beach championships took place at Yellowave, Brighton. The competition was for Under 14,16 and 18 Girls and Under 15, 17 and 19 Boys. Training and team selections took place on the beach at Yellowave on Thursday 2nd August 4.00-6.00.p.m. Photos in Beach Volleyball of all Ashcombe players at the competition.
South East Junior Squads training at Ashcombe VC
Under 15 and 17 Boys and Under 14 and 16 Girls are all invited to training at The Ashcombe Volleyball Centre for the South East Regional Squads. Players of all abilities are welcome as the squads aim to develop talented athletes in the South East. Cost £2.50 per session.

Ashcombe players selected for England South Squad Georgia Bird, Hannah Carey, Sian Warren, Beth Taylor, Megan Warren, Sophie Szyszko and Emily Begley have all been selected to train as part of the England South Squad for the UK School Games to be held in Cardiff in September. The first training session took place over the weekend of 23rd/24th May at the Ashcombe Volleyball Centre. Also selected for trials are Jimmy Carey and Chris Stent who will train with the England South Boys team over the weekend of 27th/28th June at the Ashcombe Centre.

Inter Regional Championships Loughborough - 2nd/3rd/4th May 2009 Ashcombe junior players were playing for England South East at the Inter Regional Championships. Ross Harnes, Chris Stent, Jimmy Carey, Liam Fagan, Oliver Hunt, Matt Smith and Kieron Gillard were in the Under 17 boys squad, Hannah Carey, Georgia Bird, Sian Warren, Beth Taylor and Megan Warren made the Under 16 girls squad. Under 15 team members were Jacob Obong, Harry Bird and Tom Wardell and Under 14 team members were Emily Begley, Sophie Szyszko, Robyn Wisdom and Abbey Peters. many of the Ashcombe players are students at Durrington High School. |

15 Ashcombe junior players selected for the South East England squads - 21st March 2009 Junior players from Ashcombe Volleyball Club, most of them being students at Durrington High School, were selected for the South East England squads to play at the Inter Regional Championships in Loughborough over the weekend of 3rd, 4th and 5th May 2009. At the trials on 21st March, junior players from all over the region were aiming for a place in the final squads and coaches Darren Ball, Jayne Sharpe, James Kemp and Tim Nash made their final selections. |

South East Training at Newbury - 6th December 2008 Large numbers of boys turned out for the South East session held at Trinity School, Newbury and coaches Jayne Sharpe, Freda Bussey and Darren Ball were pleased with the attitide and enthusiasm of the players. Next training session is at Ashcombe VC on Saturday 17th January 2009. |

South East Training success November 8th 2008 An excellent turnout at South East traning welcomed 48 players come together at The Ashcombe Centre and start the long journey to the Inter Regional competition in May 2009. Coaches Tim Nash, James Kemp, Darren Ball, Sara Neale, Jayne Sharpe and Freda Bussey were delighted with the numbers and look forward to the next training in Newbury on Saturday 6th December 1-5.p.m. new players are welcome to join us in all squads: Under 14 and 16 girls and Under 15 and 17 boys. |

UK School Games 2008 Izzy Fumagalli, Hannah Carey, Luana Mesquiatti and Georgia Bird from Ashcombe VC were all part of the team that beat England North in the final of the UK School Games held at Bath University on 29th-31st August 2008. The team also beat England Central, Northern Ireland, Scotland East and Scotland West.

UK School Games 2008 Players from London, South West and South East combined to form the England South team. The South East boys team lost to Scotland East to come 2nd in the boys competition. The England South team won the award for being the most succesful squad.

UK School Games 2007 Susan Hoare, Hannah Carey and Jess Grimson with the National trophy won by South at the UK School Games in August 2007. Ashcombe players Beth Lowney and Jessie Forrester were also members of the Under 16 team that reached the finals of this new National Competition beating teams from the Midlands, Scotland and Ireland and losing to North England in the finals. |
