Ashcombe v Polonia 2011
Cardiff Celts will be Ashcombe Dorking's opposition on Sunday 8th January 2011 in the first round of the National Shield competition. The game will be played at UWIC Glamorgan Sports Park, Cardiff.
A five set win against Malory Eagles on Saturday lifted Ashcombe clear of the regulation zone at the mid point of the season. The team have struggled to convert talent to points this year but their win in London is a clear sign that things are improving.
The team will face a tough challenge in the New Year when they face the top three ranked teams in the first two weeks back, however with continued improvements in play the team could be looking to upset the newly promoted high flyers when they travel to the South to face the Dorking side.
A surprise loss for Ashcombe in the National Cup competition 3-2 to Surrey Orcas on 6th November, means they will now play in the National Shield competition.
