Ashcombe hosted it's first ever Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix on Sunday 21st November. Games started at 9.30.a.m. and finished at 5.00.p.m. The teams competing included the home team Surrey Sitting and local team Battle Back as well as Lincoln Imps, Celtic Dragons, Loughborough Lions, Essex Pirates, Portsmouth, East London Lynx, Kent Wyvern and Para Bellas. An exciting competition where each team played every other team in short one set matches left the teams exhausted but exhilerated after such intense competition. The final winners were local side Surrey Sitting which included several members of the GB Sitting Volleyball Squad.The tournament was filmed by Channel 4 as part of a documentary they are completing on the Sitting Volleyball preparation for the 2012 Paralympics.
