Ashcombe hosted Group C of the second round matches in the Under 16 Girls national competition and won all their matches 2-0 on Saturday 8th January 2011. The team was captained by Sophie Szyszko who stepped into the setters role alongside Isi Liebschen and together they were able to lead the team to victory. Strong serving by Kristen Erickson and Taina Badeschi stopped the opposition settling and forming consistent attacks Dominant blocking by Lauren Joyce was also a feature along with consistent hitting by Robyn Wisdom. Libero Abbey Peters fulfilled her role well and kept the team in contention with good passing. The team now go to Kettering, Northampton on Sunday 27th February to compete in the Last 8 competition to attempt to reach the National Finals on 17th April. Squad members, Paige Fullerton, Rosanna O'Mahoney, Keerti Hariharan, Dason Neeb and Emily Begley all played a part in the victories.
