Ashcombe first beach Volleyball Tournament, held on the Sand Courts on Worthing seafront proved a hit with all the competitors. 10 mens teams and 7 womens teams played in the very competitive leagues to play for the main competition and Plate titles. The weather was kind with only a short rain burst around 12.00.p.m. and play continued from 10.a.m. to the final presentations at 5.30.p.m. results and more photos in Beach News.

Worthing Sand Courts were opened on Saturday 26th March alongside the new Splash Point development and regeneration. Local coaches and players from Ashcombe Volleyball Club and Worthing Volleyball Club led "Come and Try" sessions and there were Beach Volleyball display matches by local players. Beach Tennis and Foot Volley were also exhibited and there was a lot of interest in the courts by visitors to the beach and passers by. The courts can be hired via the adjacent Coast Cafe or contact 01903 216937 for a booking.

Beginner Beach Volleyball sessions are held every Saturday on Worthing Sand Courts.

10.00.a.m. - 11.00.a.m. Under 14.

11.00.a.m. - 12.p.m. Over 14 and adults.

The mens division is full with 10 teams, with a waiting list but there are still 3 places left in the womens competition. Also we have one woman player looking for a partner for the tournament as her partner is no longer available. Contact Freda Bussey for more details.

Worthing Sand Courts open on 26th March 2011

The new Worthing Sand Courts have taken just 2 weeks to build and now have been filled with sand ready for the grand opening in Saturday 26th March. The courts will be formally opened by Worthing Borough Council along with the nearby Splash Point development as past of the regeneration of this part of Worthing seafront. Ashcombe will be hiring the courts every Monday 5.00.p.m. to 8.00.p.m. starting on 2nd May with beginner and junior sessions from 5 to 6.00.p.m. costing £1.00 and open sessions from 6 - 8.00.p.m. for all club members, cost £1.00 per session. This session will also be open to non Ashcombe members at £2.00 per player. Tournaments and club days are also going to be organized, more details to follow.
