Success for Ashcombe Junior teams at the first Sussex Junior beach tournament

Girls competition Under 18 winners - Maria Frost and Nara Hasanova. Under 16 winners - Hannah Carey, Sian Warren and Megan Warren, Under 14 winners - Emily Begley, Robyn Wisdom and Abbey Peters. Boys competition Under 18 winners - Jimmy carey and Matt Smith. Under 16 winners - Newbury Beach Boys, Under 14 Boys - Harry Bird, Matt Smith, Elliot Reynolds and Dominic Wisdom. The tournament was held on Saturday 20th June at Yellowave Brighton.

Mia Lowney and Judt Szakal win the 1st Sussex Beach Tournament - 23rd May 2009

Ashcombe players Mia Lowney and Judit Szakal beat Katie Mitram and Soo-Bee Appleton in the final of the innaugural Sussex Beach Doubles and Triples Volleyball Tournament held at Yellowave on Saturday 23rd May. Theresa Farley and Emma Churcher also reached the Quarter Final stages. Young Ashcombe players Jimmy Carey and Matt Smith entered the mens competition and were pleased when they managed to win one game in their pool.

Sussex Doubles and Triples Beach Tournament - 23rd and 24th May 2009

The organisation of the annual Adur Doubles and Triples Tournament has been taken on this year by the Sussex Volleyball Association and moved to Yellowave in Brighton. The tournament will be the same as usual - Saturday doubles tournament for men and womens teams [also a mixed 4's tournament for Sussex league teams only] and Sunday for mixed triples teams. Entry forms available on line from Volleyball England and on the Sussex Volleyball website.

On the Beach

Ashcombe Volleyball Club provides opportunities for all players to play beach volleyball at the Yellowave beach courts, Brighton, and by entering beach volleyball competitions across the country. Monday training throughout the summer will run again at Yellowave, starting on 11th May, sponsored by Sussex Volleyball Association 5-7.p.m. juniors £1.00 7-9.p.m. adults Sussex players £2.00 other adults £3.00 and open to all.

Jess Grimson and Susan Hoare in the main draw at The World Under 21 Beach Championships - Brighton 3rd - 7th September 2008

Susan and Jess faced the best junior players in the world on the beach at Brighton and although they didn't manage to win a set they were a credit to Great Britain and Ashcombe Volleyball Club. Both players are only 17 and now have a real drive to improve their beach volleyball game.

 

 

 

Ashcombe's Jess Grimson and Susan Hoare selected for World Under 21 Beach Championships - 1st August 2008

After winning the Sandbanks Under 18 National Championships and coming 2nd in the Margate Under 21 National Championships Jess and Susan have been training with the GB squad at the University of Bath and have now been selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 21 World Championships to be held on the sand courts at Yellowave, Brighton on 3rd - 7th September 2008.

Sandbanks Beach Championships 2007

Ashcombe players came home with several championship titles from the British National Beach Championships held on the beach at Sanbanks on 14th and 15th July 2007. Susan Hoare and Jess Grimson won the Under 16 girls title, Nara Hasanova and Maria Frost won the Under 16 "B" title with Izzy Fumagali and Lucy Pierce as the runners-up. Beth Taylor, Chrissie Chaplin and Georgia Bird were also runners up in the 3 aside Under 14 divison. Chantelle Bashford and Izzy Fumagali won the Under 18 "B" competition with Maria Frost and Nara Hasanova as runners up.
